I’ve talked with many people over the past few weeks who are happy to leave 2025 behind—energized by the clean-slate feeling of a new year. And yet, there’s no denying that chaos still swirls around us. The ground feels like it’s shifting daily (Greenland, anyone?!).
Entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders are used to this. Uncertainty, complexity, adapting on the fly—this is the work we signed up for. And while we keep doing what we do, this moment also calls for something more: showing up for one another.
In the spirit of MLK Day, I’m thinking about small, tangible acts of support:
Do you have energy? Volunteer with an organization that resonates with you—especially one supporting people who feel particularly vulnerable right now.
Do you have financial capacity? Consider making a donation to an organization doing steady, on-the-ground work.
Do you know someone doing important work? Tell them you see it—and share why it matters to you.
Do you have a few minutes? Reach out to someone who may be feeling vulnerable or unsettled. You could simply listen—or ask how you can help.
You don’t have to change the world. You don’t have to match Dr. King’s incredible impact. Making a meaningful difference in the life of one—or a few—people is enough.
